About Jake:
Jake is a 28 year old guitarist from the midwest. He’s been playing guitar for nearly 15 years, and is well versed in many styles of music. He studied classical guitar at Millikin University, as well as electric guitar at Musician's Institute: Hollywood. Jake is the lead guitarist/songwriter for the metal band Distant Shores. He has previously played for several other bands, including the melodic death metal band Symphony of Heaven, and Illinois Times #1 ranked cover band, Jukerox. Jake is a full time guitar teacher, currently teaching online lessons via Skype. He also runs a YouTube channel dedicated to guitar covers, gear demos, and lessons.
Jake’s playing is influenced by Marty Friedman, Slash, John Petrucci, and Alexi Laiho, among others. Some of his favorite bands include: Megadeth, Amon Amarth, Guns N Roses, Wintersun, and Trivium. He also enjoys a number of classical guitarists.
